Dear fellow citizens,

Lately, we unfortunately have to constantly see that our forests and the adjacent areas are being misused as illegal dumping sites for waste.

As can be seen from the attached photos, among other things, Old tires, a mirrored cabinet, a refrigerator, and several trash bags disposed of carelessly in nature.

Such behavior is completely unacceptable to me.

Our forests are natural spaces and places of recreation. They are habitats for numerous animals and plants and serve all of us for relaxation. Anyone who dumps their trash there not only damages nature and the landscape, but also ensures that the costs for collecting and properly disposing of the waste ultimately have to be borne by the general public.

Therefore, I would like to make it clear: The depositing of waste in forests and countryside is prohibited and not a minor offense. Illegal littering can be prosecuted as a misdemeanor and punished with a fine. Depending on the nature and severity of the offense, further legal consequences may also be considered. In addition, there may be associated costs for removal and proper disposal.

The city will therefore consistently pass on relevant findings and information to the relevant authorities.

At the same time, I appeal to all citizens: If you observe illegal dumping or have any information about possible perpetrators, please do not ignore it. If it is safe to do so, please record the location, time, license plate number, or other relevant information and pass it on to the relevant authorities.

There are proper disposal options for all waste. Therefore, there is no justification or understanding for simply leaving refrigerators, tires, furniture, or trash bags in our forest.

Our forest is not a landfill.

Please help us keep our city, our forests and our landscape clean and livable.

Yours

Falko Hönisch
Mayor of the city
